Fashion refers to anything that is the current trend in look and dress up of a person, which was first established in Europe at the middle of the 14th century by historians James Laver and Fernand Braudel. The pace of change accelerated considerably in the following years among men and womens fashion, especially when it comes to clothes and hairstyles.
Art historians first illustrated fashion with the use of sketches. In fact portraits of the elite people from the European countries showed entirely different forms of fashions from their hats, hairstyles, costumes and shoes. Colors and textile patterns changed from year to year, as well as the cut and length of their waistcoats and dresses. However, as photography became more sophisticated in the early twentieth century, the fashion press used more and more photographs to illustrate new designs.
In the middle of 18th century, American stylist Charles Frederick Worth introduced its first fashion magazine, Harpers Bazaar. This was followed by several other fashion designers whose creations can be seen in new fashion magazines. Among the most popular fashion magazines that influence almost all of the people in the world and have most annual subscriptions include Allure, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Vogue, Glamour, Marie Claire, InStyle, Teen Vogue, Esquire and W Magazine.
